DJI Goggles can offer both 720/60fps and closer range 1080p/30fps viewing with a low latency of only 110ms. With the OcuSync wireless transmission up to four devices can be connected to the Mavic Pro at the same time. 360 coverage is also ensured thanks to built-in antennas for a reliable connection even when the drone is flying behind you.
2K screens are split into two 1280x1440 sections for each eye. When viewing 16:9 images some sections may be further cut off with only a quarter of the pixels available. DJI goggles have two HD1920x1080 screens for more than twice the the amount of pixels than regular 2K single screens. Each screen will pack the pixels together for a clean, quality image with no latticing. With a large aperture aspheric lens users are able to have a 85° field of view for each eye for maximum immersion.
With the DJI Goggles head movements can control the aircraft, the yay, and the tilt of the camera in the Head Tracking Flight mode. Users only need to turn their head right and left to yaw and then straighten for the drone to stop turning. In the Head Tracking Mode the gimbal will automatically adjust its movement without affecting yaw.
The Goggles have been designed with an integrated touch pad and the 5D button on the Mavic Pro controller that will make the navigation internal menu system much easier and more intuitive.
DJI Goggles are designed to work with DJI’s new Intelligent Flight Modes.
Fixed Wing Mode: In Fixed Wing Mode the drone will not turn left or right but will fly forward with enough rotational movement for the most realistic flight simulation. With Fixed Wing Mode and Head Tracking Mode combined users can fly their Mavic Pro for a fully immersive flight experience. The AR trajectory prediction software also makes flying in complex environments safer while flying in Fixed Wing Mode. Additional Flight Modes include Terrain Follow, ActiveTrack, TapFly, Tripod Mode and Cinematic Mode.
Comfort is prioritized in the design of the DJI Goggles. The goggles are made with a solid headband that evenly balances and spreads the weight of the goggles to minimize pressure on the users face. Those who wear glasses can also wear the goggles comfortably. The goggles are also designed to flip up so users can glimpse the real world or even detached for easy portability and storage.
