With the new Inspire 2, DJI has taken all that was ground-breaking with the Inspire 1 and further improved it. The Inspire 2 features a brand new imaging processing system that records up to 5.2K video in CinemaDNG RAW, Apple ProRes, and more. The Inspire 2 can additionally fly from 0 to 80 kilometres in four seconds with a maximum flight speed of 108kph. The Inspire 2 has a maximum descent speed of 9m/s for a never before seen speed for an aircraft of its size.
The Inspire 2 is integrated with new a new CineCore 2.0 image processing system which is capable of recording 5.2K videos in CinemaDNG*, Apple ProRes* and more. CineCore 2.0 is also built in the nose of the drone and works with any camera that is connected through the gimbal port.
The forward and downward vision system gives the Inspire 2 the ability to detect obstacles that are up to 30 meters ahead of it, giving the user a protected flight of up to 54kph at a controllable attitude angle of 25°. The upward facing infrared sensors can scan obstacles 5m above it for extra protection when flying indoors. The Obstacle sensing system is active during normal flights, in Return to Home mode, and in all Intelligent Flight Modes. These sensors are all core components of the DJI Flight Autonomy System which bring the features to the Inspire 2 below:
The Spotlight Pro is an extremely powerful tracking mode that gives pilots the ability to capture complex and dramatic footage. Spotlight Pro uses an advanced visual tracking algorithm to lock onto a subject during flights, regardless of the direction that the Inspire 2 is flying in. This creates shots that would have once required a single dedicated camera operator to control. If the gimbal is close to reaching its limit of rotation, the Inspire 2 will rotate in the same direction of the camera without affecting the flight control or the shot being captured to permit gimbal movement.
In addition to Spotlight Pro, a range of other intelligent flight and shooting modes are available. Obstacle avoidance is optimized when using Point of Interest*and Waypoint* modes, making complex shots simple and repeatable. Also available are QuickSpin, TapFly and ActiveTrack, to simplify challenging shots.
The Inspire 2’s 2-axis onboard FPV camera separates the flight view from the main camera's view, essentially giving the Inspire 2 a dedicated TapFly camera. Users can tap a point onscreen in the FPV view to set a flight route, then, the Inspire 2 will automatically fly along that route, leaving the pilot to focus on the gimbal movement.
The ActiveTrack Mode will allow the Inspire 2 to recognize a range of objects including bikes, cars, and people. Tracking the profile of the object can also be adjusted based on the subject being tracking which equates to greater tracking precision.
Forward and downward vision systems will allow the Inspire 2 to remember its flight route as it flies. If the video transmission system signal is dropped, and Smart Return Home is activated, the drone will still be able to fly along the memorized, original route, and then change into a straight line when it regains the signal. As it returns, pilots will use the primary camera to identify any nearby obstacles as far as 200m in front, allowing it to plan out a safe route home. The drone can also reconnect faster after losing a signal.
The newest update to the DJI Lightbridge technology now has a transmission distance of up to 7km and can deliver 1080/720p video as well as the FPV view for piloting and the camera operator. Users can additionally switch between 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz frequencies for less interference and a stronger signal.
The new wireless HD image transmission technology sends the drones video information from the master controller to the slave controller. The controllers can be up to 100 metres apart from each other without losing an image quality.
Aerial live-streaming direct to the TV is now as simple as connecting the Inspire 2’s remote controller to a satellite truck. Broadcasters can broadcast the feed from the Inspire 2 using its dedicated 1080i50 and 720p60 transmission signal.
